Celebration of Life
The Christmas Holiday Season is frequently a time when we celebrate the love and friendship we have for special people in our lives. As we think about the upcoming holidays, many of us who have lost loved ones take time to reflect on what their lives meant to us and how much they are missed.
Twenty years ago, the Visiting Nurses Foundation and Assured Home Health and Hospice began sponsoring a Hospice Tree. Originally, it was known as the Hospice Tree because it provided an opportunity for the family and friends of hospice patients to gather together and decorate a tree in honor of loved ones who had passed.
Over the years, it has evolved into a ceremony and event that has grown to encompass a larger audience with the emphasis on the Celebration of Life. The tree is a celebration of life because it is decorated with ornaments sponsored by people like yourself, who have lost a loved one or have a living friend or family member they would like to recognize. Each ornament includes the name of the person memorialized or honored and will be hung on the tree as sponsorship requests come in.
This special tree is on display during the holiday season at the Visiting Nurses Thrift Shop in Centralia at 222 S. Pearl St, across from the Berryfields Cafe. Please stop by to see this beautiful testament to loved ones.
Candlelight Ceremony: We are partnering with Assured Home Health & Hospice and Sticklin Funeral Chapel in inviting you to gather with us to honor your loved ones and light a candle to celebrate their lives.
This year's ceremony will be held on Saturday, December 15th at 2:00 pm at the Veterans Memorial Museum (100 S.W. Veterans Way, Chehalis). We will relocate the tree to the museum and there will be a short candlelight memorial service as we gather near the tree to celebrate the lives of our loved ones. There will be music, an inspiring message and the names adorning the ornaments on the tree will be read followed by light refreshments.
We invite you to bring a photo of your loved one to display on the photo board for everyone to enjoy. The non-denominational ceremony has always been a meaningful and special event. We hope you have an opportunity to join us.
